Punjab Planning & Development Board Chief Economist Arif Anwar Baloch said that the Punjab government would spend Rs 250 million to establish working women’s hostels at the tehsil level and Rs 100 million to establish daycare centres for their children. According to a press release, Baloch was addressing the concluding ceremony of a two-day workshop titled “Gender Responsive Budgeting” held in Bhurban on Tuesday. Baloch said that the provincial government was paying special attention to women’s development, adding that Rs 4.5 billion had been earmarked for mothers’ and childrens’ healthcare. He also said that buses were being provided to girls’ colleges at a cost of Rs 1 billion across the province.
