PBC to broadcast programmes to mark Black Day

Pakistan will air special programmes on the occasion of the Black Day being observed tomorrow (Thursday) against the overthrowing of democratic government of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto by military dictator Ziaul Haq on this day in 1977.
The speeches of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, interviews and special songs will be aired by FM-101 network throughout the day. The National Broadcasting Service, current affairs channel of Radio Pakistan, will air special programmes from 7:10am to 11pm while the English channel of Radio Pakistan, Planet FM-94 will present English speeches and interviews of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto.
Community channel FM-93 and medium wave stations will air special messages of President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf as well as the interviews and impressions of political leaders and federal ministers. Excerpts from the speeches of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto on negation of despotic rule, uplift of the country and people and rule by the people will also be presented.
Special interview of prominent broadcaster and intellectual, Aslam Azhar, will also be broadcast. Director General Radio Pakistan, Murtaza Solangi, will be the host of the programme. Special programmes comprising interviews of leading political and social figures, intellectuals and leading journalists will be the part of programmes being aired on the occasion of the black day.
A special seminar on imposition of marital law in country on July 5 and beginning of the darkest era is being organised by PBC Peshawar. Special songs and impressions of the people will be aired to mark the black day.
Discussion programmes on democracy and dictatorship, human rights, trampling down of constitution and fundamental rights, and telephone call by listeners will be the hallmark of the black day programmes. Prominent poets, Aslam Gordaspuri, Shahzad Ahmed, Zafar Iqbal, Abbas Ather, Najeeb Ahmed, Amjad Islam Amjad, Nasir Zaidi, Asghar Nadim Syed, Neelma Sarwar, Naheed Ishtiaq, Ahmed Aqil Rubi and Rabia Rehman will pay homage to Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto in a mushaira being organasied by PBC Lahore.
Excerpts of former military dictator General Ziaul Haq will also be included in `Naiy Ufaq’ programme to be aired at 8:05pm along with comments by leading intellectuals, journalists, and analysts.
