Luqman teams up with ARY

Since the Mediagate scandal that hit the headlines a few weeks ago, the media in Pakistan has been shaken to the core. Each development in this story is as bizarre as the next.
In early June, Mubashir Luqman quit Dunya News following the leakage of an off-air footage of an interview with property tycoon Malik Riaz. All hell broke loose as the TV channel and the anchorpersons of the show, Luqman and Mehr Bukhari, were accused of running a planted interview. Rumours were rife on the social media that Luqman was rejoining Dunya News but he rejected the reports, while confirming that he was joining ARY TV network and would soon be hosting a show on the channel. “I’m joining ARY after resolving my issues amicably with Dunya News,” he told Pakistan Today. There were also reports that Sana Bucha, anchorperson of Geo News talk show Lekin, had left the channel in protest against the rehiring of Amir Liaqat Hussain of the Alam Online fame. However, Sana has denied that she has resigned from her position at Geo, saying she has no issues with Amir Liaqat’s hiring as the Vice President of the entire Geo Network, Group Executive Director and Editor Religious Affairs. The “Doctor” had embarrassed himself and the entire network when a leaked YouTube video showed Liaqat making fun of a woman who had called him with a problem and using street language off-air.

  25. It is time for public to stand up and boycott those TV channels who knowingly hire blackmailers, cheats and conmen like Luqman, Amir Liaquat and Mehr Bukhari. Perhaps Bahria should start a new channel and hire all these crooks.

  27. It will be shame for ARY to hire this kind of unreliable so-called anchor. He is habitual of attacking the Apex Court. I have seen his earlier remarks about the Chief Justice Ifthikar Muhammad Chaudhary, whose integrity is recognized the world over, during the movement of the restoration of judiciary. ARY would injustice if they bring him over the screen. We are fed up of this planted-anchor person.

  31. I imagine his benefactors pressured ARY into employing him. Media owners always find it difficult to say 'no' to our spooks when the heat is put on them, otherwise why would someone want to have such a disgrace on their team.

  34. After going through the comments of my learned friends I feel the call of the day is to make money what ever way its come. Its not the anchors/business community/ channel owners/statesmen/politician/bureaucratic/govt officials both provincial & national the whole lot is practically following the call of the day. General public unfortunately have no time to participate. IMAM Khomani type of a ruler can put the things back on track. Lets pray Allah to send for us a ruler like IMAM.

    • Unluckily Pakistan is basically tribal society, these tribes are in the shape of 74 Baloch tribes, 150 Sindh wadera tribes, 250 lower Panjab tribes and 100s of Pashtune tribes. In Iran there is no such tribal system and society. If there is any, they are not influencing politics. Same with other countries. India demolished tribal system after 5 years of independence in 1952 under the leadership of J Nehro. Nehru ruled India from 1947 to 1964 (17 years). Where as Pakistan was ruled by 4 Governor Generals from 1947 to 1958 ( Mr. Jinnah, Mr. Khwaja Nazimuddin, Mr. Ghulam Mohammad and Iskander Mirza (Grand son of Mir Jaffar of Bengal). During 2 year of presidency of Iskander Mirza he change 4 prim minister of this poor Pakistan. then there was a chain of Martial Law initiated by Iskander Mirza. Ayub , Yahya Khan, ZA Bhutto, Zia Ul Haq, Musharaf. Amonge them Pakistan progress was done only during Ayub Khan and Musharaf period.
      ZA Bhutto planted the seeds of ORGANIZED corruption in politics in Pakistan which can not be ended with out a good supreme court of Military rule in future.

  45. What is wrong with ARY. Are there not any men of integrity left in the electronic media or ARY has a different agenda ? I am baffled and want to take leave of my senses ! That is what Jalib said " maray mo ke taraf ka ya dekhts hay —Qaudi azam ka Pakistan dekekh.". But then if we can accept the likes of "Hazrat" Janab Asif Ali Zerdari Sahib (peace be upon him) "Pir" of Multan "Hazret" Gillani Sahib and a lot of other holy men and women from our national scene , then Mubashir Luqman is not bad.

  48. I am at loss how pakistani media is quite about the scandle. Geo news was boasting that they are going to supreme court to file a writ but they are so corrupt that they did not dare to do so . Now we know that why these corrupt anchors take break . Why Mr Hamid Mir programme is not always live because he wants edit it . But stil he keeps on winking,signing with hands and giving a sardonic smile. By the way now he is not talking about Malik Riaz . Hamid mir will just say but he will never declear his assets because he has been obliged by Alqaeda before & now by americans….. He is the opurtunist !

  54. i agree that all the channels are representing interests of different lobbies except pro Pakistan lobby. No doubt all the channels are sold out to foreign anti Pakistani interests. Their main aim is to perpetuate hopelessness and foment anger and frustration in order to destroy Pakistan from within. There is hope in shape of Imran Khan but he is always dismissed by these channels on different excuses without looking at his motives or glorious track record, The middle class is with him but the 27 million beneficiaries of Benazir Income Support Program are greatest threat for Pakistan as these extremely poor people are so desperate that they are ready to vote for extremely corrupt ppp at the cost of our country's future. The result is that zardari and co throw away 50 or 70 billion rupees to these poor people and then plunder thousands of Billion rupees and stash them in swiss banks. Tehreek Insaf has to devise a comprehensive strategy to combat this threat from PPP. Only reason PPP is continuously winning bye elections is this scheme. I am 100 percent sure that if PPP again comes to power our country will not exist any more. Zardari and co like ANP MQM etc have always wanted to break Pakistan and now USA has joined hands with them. A nuclear Pakistan is the only possible threat for USA, India and Isreal troika. Please understand all it is a very serious threat for us. Just note that all anti Pakistan Baloch and MQM leadership is in England and they still call us friends. May the Al Mighty save us from all this desperate situation

    In past I have witness several programs of Luqman with his anti government approach. He is really very liberal and independent anchor. I am myself very against of this government and only appreciate sup.court approach as they are trying to protect our Pakistan from brink of final collapse.

  57. This is not the way to condemn a person without affording him a chance to vindicate himself. By the by who else in today's electronic media is pious or incorruptible!. Mubashir is the proud son of an illustrious father who had pioneered the indigenous film industry in the fifities and sixties.

  59. Why do we become so biased? Luckman is a common Pakistan and he thinks and react the way every common citizen of Pakistan Does? Why do we blame him this much as he was not asking something which is not common in our society!
    GEO has appointed Aamir LIaqat Hussain as a Religious Scholar whose off-air shooting is such a shame that cannot be compare to Luckman's …if he can be retained why not Luckman..??
    In my point of view we should spare him for what he did in that particular event…

  60. I think Sana Bucha is like a Puppet of anti-Islam think tanks.
    she is going to use against Islam and Islamic Scholars.That's the reason she has left the GEO after some time joining Dr.Aamir liaquat hussain.As we know about Sana Bucha she is Muslim league(N) Supporter she always take Soft-Conner against tham.I think she ran away. Couldn't take it anymore, as she was facing harsh criticism from her viewers because of her soft corner for PML(N).
