Doctors’ strike: LHC issues notices to Health secy, PMDC, YDA

Lahore High Court (LHC) Justice Ijaz-ul-Hassan on Tuesday issued notices to the secretary Health, Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC), and Young Doctors Association (YDA) for July 6 and remarked that the young doctors’ strike in Punjab province was against their oath.
While hearing a case against the doctors’ strike, Justice Hassan said that the law and constitution did not give a right to doctors to go on strike. He said that doctors were children of the nation and they should be treated well. It is pertinent to mention that at least 10 patients, including a child have died in the province during the strike by Young Doctors.
Haj Policy 2012 challenged in LHC: The Haj Policy 2012 has been challenged in the Lahore High Court (LHC). The petition charges that the Haj quota was not fairly distributed.
Munir Ahmed in the LHC submitted the petition on Tuesday.
The petitioner objected to an “unjust distribution of the Haj quota” to private tour operators, saying that some of the companies were tax-defaulters.
He further stated that a tax amount of Rs 360 million was paid after the court ordered to cancel licenses of these companies.
The petitioner said the 2012 policy shows that the federal government remained non-transparent in the process, thus, the policy should be declared illegal.
