Islamabad Transport Authority Secretary Khawaja Maqbool Mustafa, during traffic checking, impounded 17 public service vehicles which failed to get their route permits renewed on time and imposed heavy fines on the transporters for overcharging and not completing their routes.
ITA Secretary Maqbool Mustafa imposed heavy fines on the violators for overcharging and for not completing the designated routes. He said that the administration has also launched a special drive against those public service vehicles which have not got their route permits renewed within stipulated time. He also impounded 17 public service vehicles.
Deputy Commissioner Amer Ali Ahmed said that a complaint cell has also been set up in the office of the Islamabad Transport Authority secretary to take immediate action on the public complaints and redress the grievances of commuters pertaining to non-completion of routes and overcharging.
NUML, HRD Korea sign MoU to set up institute: National University of Modern Languages (NUML) and Human Resource Development Service of Korea (HRD Korea) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the establishment of Pakistan King Sejong Institute at NUML. The MoU was signed by Rector Maj-Gen (retd) Masood Hasan from NUML side and by Mr Young-Jung, SONG, president of HRD Korea from the Korean side.
Worl-Jae LIM, the centre in-charge of HRD Korea in Pakistan, presented the MOU on the president’s behalf. The signing ceremony was also attended Director General Brig Azam Jaml, Registrar Brig (retd) Saeed Akhtar Malik, Director Academics Col (retd) Syed Jawaid, head of Korean Department, Dr Atif Faraz, and other officials. The rector, while talking to the HRD Korea representative, said, “The NUML is the only university in the entire country where such a professional language institute is being launched to supplement the already functioning Korean Language Department.”
Speaking at the occasion, Head of Korean Department Dr Atif Faraz said that the establishment of the institute will introduce effective and efficient Korean studies at the campus and it will help enhancing the friendly ties between the two countries. Moreover, the institute will help improve people-to-people and government-to- government ties, student-teacher exchanges, job opportunities by developing communication skills in potential Pakistani workers hoping to get employment in Korea and better understanding of Korean society, culture and economy through Korean language education.
