‘So calling in the Army is Shahbaz’s brilliant idea?’

Deputy Prime Minister Pervaiz Elahi said Monday that deployment of army doctors at hospitals proved that Punjab government had absolutely failed.
Talking to elected representatives, former nazims, lawyers, industrialists, businessmen, Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid leaders and workers at a local hotel, Pervaiz said it was the constitutional right of every countryman to raise voice for rights and there was no justification for the use of force to suppress them.
Pervaiz said that imposition of Section 144 and jail threats to doctors of the province showed the dictatorial approach of Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif. He was of the view that dialogue was the best possible way to resolve all issues and urged the doctors and the provincial government to show flexibility on their stance and sit together to resolve the problems. Pervaiz said no policy of the provincial government had shown any fruitful result for people which reflect its incapability to run the affairs. “During my regime, doctors from Saudi Arabia, England and other European countries came back to Pakistan and they were inducted at 4,400 basic health units across the province,” he added.
