A total number of 76 goals- 60 in the round robin league, nine in quarter finals, three in the semi finals and four in the final -were scored in 31 matches at an average of 2.45 goals per match.

Irish goal-keeper Shay Given conceded nine goals in three matches while Italy’s Gianluigi Buffon conceded seven in six. Czech Republic’s Petr Cech and Germany’s Manuel Neuer shared the third spot with six goals each.
Apart from the two goalless encounters, seven matches ended 1-0, five matches ended 1-1, four ended 2-0 another two ended 3-2, six ended 2-1, two ended 4-0 another one ended 4-1, one ended 3-1 and one ended 4-2.
A total number of 887 fouls were committed and 123 yellow and three red cards were shown in the 24 days long tournament. As many as 1118 fouls were committed and 122 yellow and three red cards were shown in the 23 days long tournament four year ago.
