459 places fumigated in capital

The anti-mosquito spray teams carried out fumigation at 459 places of the rural area of the Federal Capital during the second phase of anti-dengue drive.
According to District Disease Surveillance Coordinator, ICT, Dr. Najeeb Durrani, the spray teams covered the areas of Bhara Kahu, Tarlai, Sihala, Rawat, Kurri and Koral. Assistant Commissioner (Secretariat) Islamabad Nouman Yousaf, magistrates, officials of District Health Department, ICT, union councils, Local Government Department and Revenue Department were also part of spray teams. According to Deputy Commissioner Amer Ali Ahmed, the chlorination of water supply schemes was also under way in the rural areas as part of preventive measures against the seasonal diseases. The District Health Department is also mobilizing the community in the rural areas to raise awareness about the preventive measures against dengue. More than 90,000 pamphlets have been distributed in the community with special emphasis of participation of students.
