Two Taliban commanders, injured in recent clashes with security forces in Upper Dir, succumbed to their injuries in Kunar late on Saturday. The reports pouring in from Afghanistan revealed that Maulana Mansoor and Haji Kalam were among those militants who had attacked a security forces’ checkpost a week ago. At least 17 security forces personnel were picked up and taken to Afghanistan where they were killed. The security forces also claimed killing and injuring several militants in retaliatory action. The reports revealed that upon returning to Afghanistan, the injured militants were admitted to a private hospital in Kunar where both Mansoor and Kalam died. There are no details regarding the funeral of both the militant commanders.
