Rangers’ delegation leaves for India to attend biannual meeting

A Pakistani delegation comprising officials from Pakistan Rangers, Survey of Pakistan, Ministry of Interior and the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) has reached India to attend a biannual meeting with the Border Security Force (BSF) of India, scheduled from July 1-5 in New Delhi. Issues of mutual interest, measures to improve peace along the border and working boundary, repatriation of Pakistani fishermen, inadvertent and illegal border crossings, Pakistani prisoners detained in Indian jails and hostile firing will be discussed. ANF officials will also discuss measures to check and control precursor smuggling and sharing of intelligence with their counterparts to curb the menace of drug trafficking. “We will discuss all issues with our Indian counterparts,” the Punjab Rangers Director General Maj Gen Mian Mohammad Hilal Hussain told reporters at the Wagah border. Sindh Rangers DG Maj Gen Rizwan Akhtar is head of the delegation, while Punjab Rangers DG is accompanying him. BSF DIG PS Nagara received the delegation at Wagah.
