Feeling the heat of criticism by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chief Imran Khan against National Accountability Bureau (NAB) for being “soft” against PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif, NAB Chairman Admiral (r) Fasih Bukhari on Monday said proceedings on cases against former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif were “under process” per provisions of National Accountability Ordinance 1999. The NAB chief had on Saturday said that political cases, including those against Sharif family, would not be opened as the country had entered the election year. However, within 48 hours, the NAB chief took a 180 degree turn on his stance. “NAB clarifies that it has not closed even a single case against the Sharif brothers. Three references, including case of willful loan default, Hudaibia Paper Mill, and assets beyond known sources of income, are pending with the Accountability Court. NAB had filed an application to reopen these cases but the court refused to accept NAB’s point of view and adjourned the case sine-die,” said a statement issued by NAB. The statement said in year 2010, NAB again moved an application for recommencement of these cases, but the court rejected NAB’s plea. “Meanwhile, the Sharif brothers moved the honourable Lahore High Court through a writ petition in October 2011, seeking quashment of these references. The court granted stay order in favour of the Sharif brothers,” the statement added. It said the NAB chairman had constituted a committee under the chairmanship of NAB’s prosecutor general accountability to review the reference forwarded through the Crisis Management Cell of the Ministry of Interior. “The committee is at its final stages to formulate the recommendations in the said case. These recommendations would then be presented in the executive board meeting for further proceedings in the case,” the statement added.

  1. Great F**U**C**K the H**E**L**L out of each other until both parties bleed to D**E**A**T**H. May be that is solution to problems faced by the land of Pure. Please keep going and provide entertainment to people who really enjoy this Soap Opera.

  2. Unfortunately the courts are not serious about doing the right thing. The judges are bought and sold on daily basis. I know this for a fact. I have seen it first hand. I was hoping things have changed but they have not. There is too much money involved and too much temptation for corruption even by the judiciary. Actually more so by the judiciary. We understand why political appointees would do what they do but we hoped that judges would do the right thing. Unfortunately we are wrong.

    • You are absolutely right. Judges, right from the top man to the lowest level, are the most corrupt segment of society. It is comical when a judge talks about his crusade against corruption. If our judiciary had been honest, others would not have dared to indulge in it. But, alas, they are not. Anybody who has the money can buy them.

  3. few know that Admiral Bokhari was handpicked by Shahbaz Sharif to head NAB. The investigations are a smokescreen.

  4. Rana Sanaullah and Iftakhar Muhammad Chaudhary are hiding there true relationship. PML (N) is lucky to have a cousin of CJ. This way PML(N) is getting favourable decisions from courts

    • I truly hope thats not the case. I would love to see any evidence if you people have any… otherwise be prepared to be answerable in the hereafter.

  5. Shareefs are enjoying real immunity so far. They should be brought under the justice system as it is only way to give message to public that they were not that clean and had embezzled public money. Let’s hope now to see them behind bars. Otherwise they will keep on fooling public. Infact NAB chief was asked to give permission to open these cases by accountability court in 2010, but he didn’t allow to do so (it was previous NAB chief though) so the courts did not proceed. Wonder why is that “missed” in the above report. It is truth that Pakistan Peoples Party does not want politics of confrontation and does not want era of 90s once again therefore is not a single political victim during the four and half year tenure of PPP. But it does not mean that who looted public exchequers money will be given free hand or they will be given clean chit. Cases against Nawaz Sharif are not quashed and he will have to face the music for their looting and plundering. Also if PPP opens any case against these brothers there will be a great hue and cry that PPP is peddling on the path of victimization.
