“Tarranum”, a historic cinema house built before the partition, was demolished on Sunday.
The owners of the cinema house said that the building had been demolished to make space for the construction of a market.
Located at Teksali, the cinema house was first named “Novelty Cinema” and later its name was changed to Tarranum. No new movies had been screened there for a long time.
The owners said that movies were not available and there was also a lack of demand by cinema-goers.
They added that expenses had become unbearable and the building had also worn out.
Therefore, it was decided that the building be demolished for the construction of a shopping plaza, which would be more profitable.
