At least five persons including a robber were killed and several others injured in separate firing and target killing incidents in different localities of the city on Friday.
According to police, unknown armed men gunned down one person near Pankha Hotel in Shershah area of the city. The body was shifted to hospital where identity of the deceased was yet to be confirmed.
A bullet-riddled tortured dead body of a man identified as Dar Muhammad, 30, was recovered from Maripur Road. The hands and limbs of the deceased were tied with ropes and he was shot dead after kidnapping him. Police recovered dead body of an unidentified person from Ramswami area of Gordon. The body was shifted to hospital for postmortem. A bullet-riddled dead body enclosed in a gunny bag was recovered from Super Highway. Identity of the deceased could not be confirmed. A robber was killed in exchange of fire with police near Liaquat No 10, while his accomplices managed to escape. The police recovered a pistol and snatched valuables from the possession of the dacoit killed in the fire exchange. He was wanted by various police stations in several cases of robberies, picket looting, mobile and purse snatching.
Meanwhile, firing continued in various areas of the city including Lyari, Sohrab Goth, Liaquatabad and Shah Faisal Colony during which seven persons were injured who were shifted to different hospitals of the concerned areas.
