At least 12 persons including women and children were affected due to leakage of toxic liquid from a chemical plant of agricultural sprays here in the wee hours of Saturday.
According to details, toxious fluid seeped out from chemical plant of a pesticides industry setup at a house located in populated area of Rajanpur city.
The leaked chemical when merged in water turned into pungent smell which spread in the area. Due to the heady fume at least 12 dwellers including three women and two children fell unconscious.
The rescue personnel after being informed rushed to the scene and shifted the affected persons to hospital.
DCO Rajanpur Ghazi Amanullah when informed about the incident refused to take immediate action and advised the complainants to wait for the office time to get the issue resolved.
Meanwhile, the citizens of Rajanpur have demanded the district administration to take notice of the establishing chemical industries in residential areasl that could harm human lives as well as flora and fauna.
