The Guvnah grants Rs 120m to Arts Council

Sindh Governor Dr Ishrat-ul-Ebad Khan has extended a grant of Rs 120 million to the Arts Council of Pakistan. This was stated by Karachi Arts Council President Ahmed Shah. Talking to reporters on Thursday he said the money will be utilised for building a five-storey block at the Arts Council. Ahmed Shah said the new block will have a 300-seat auditorium, audio visual library and studio and will house the academies of music and theatre. He stated that the Council’s Art School will be upgraded to an art university. A two-storey underground parking area will also be constructed at the Arts Council. Ahmed Shah said the ZA Bukhari Open Art Theatre will also be renovated. It was also pointed out that the annual grant for the Karachi Arts Council has been enhanced from Rs five million to Rs 17 million. Arts Council Vice-President Mahmood Ahmed Khan, Secretary Prof Aijaz Ahmed Farooqui and Joint Secretary Amin Yousuf were also present on the occasion. They thanked the Sindh governor for the grant and the Sindh government for enhancing the annual grant.
