The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf and the Jamaat-e-Islamai on Thursday agreed to build pressure on the government.
In a joint press conference after a meeting of PTI Chairman Imran Khan and JI Amer Munawar Hassan, both leaders said they discussed minimum agenda on which the parties already agreed.
Both leaders expressed the resolve to protect the Supreme Court of Pakistan. They said they were worried that the government and corrupt elements might harm the apex court like they did a few days ago, referring to Malik Riaz-Arsalan Iftikhar case. The PTI chairman dispelled any possibility to form an alliance with the forces of status quo sitting in parliament. However, he avoided to comment on whether both the parties were going to make an alliance in the next general election.\ He said he didn’t see general election taking place in the near future, however, he considered new polls the only way of getting rid of the crises gripping the country. Munwwar Hassan and Imran Khan demanded that a list of those killed in the US drone attacks be published, besides demanding a halt to the attacks. Both leaders agreed that there should be no role of armed forces in forming a government in the country.
Hassan said that both the JI and PTI were already united on some issues.
