Another lesson in violence

Despite tall claims by the provincial and federal governments and law enforcement authorities, targeted killings continue to take innocent lives as five more people were killed and about two dozen others were injured in a fresh spate of assassinations in different localities of the city on Thursday.
According to details, unidentified motorcyclists gunned down an Urdu Bazaar trader named Sudhir. The police also recovered a dead body packed in a gunny bag from the Ram Swami area. In another incident, shots were fired at the car of Karachi Building Control Authority officer near Old Vegetable Market, where a man named Safdar Magsi and his driver were wounded. Furthermore, a man was injured when shots were fired at a car at Abul Hassan Isphahani Road.
During a house-to-house search operation in different areas of the city, Rangers arrested four accused and recovered weapons from their possession. Police also arrested a gangster named Shoaib along with 13 accomplices during a search operation in the Dalmia area of the city. Tension prevailed in the area since Wednesday, when miscreants killed a woman and injured several others in a hand-grenade attack. Police reached the area after firing incidents were reported during the morning. According to reports, criminals, drug peddlers and gang war suspects have been creating unrest in the area for quite some time.
