The Sports Board Punjab, after the successful organization of the Punjab Sports Festival under the leadership of Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif and dynamic supervision of Director General Sports Usman Anwar, is setting up another benchmark in history of sports by holding the Punjab Youth and Sports Festival 2012. Highlighting some of the features of the Punjab Youth and Sports Festival 2012, Usman Anwar said here on Wednesday that the event will commence from over 52,000 sports and youth development councils created under the first-ever Punjab Youth Policy.
“It will commence at neighbourhood and village level and would move up from 3464union councils, 137 tehsils, 36 districts, nine divisions to provincial level,” he added.
Although the Punjab Youth Festival 2012 is going to start at the end of August but hectic activity, planning and organization of different teams and committees have already got underway.
Chairman Sports Board Punjab, Hamza Shahbaz Sharif and Chairman Organizing Committee, Rana Mashhood Amed Khan, will be directly monitoring the organization of the Youth Festival as they did during the Punjab Sports Festival.
“The Punjab Youth Festival 2012 is going to be the biggest youth fiesta of the world and will be observed by a team of Guinness World Records,” informed Usman.
“Organizing the Punjab Sports Festival 2012 was the biggest challenge and that set a bench mark. And now this Youth Festival will set new heights in country’s sports and youth activities”, he said. He added: “We are going to set an example and will endeavor to make it even better than the Punjab Sports Festival.”

The SBP is also seeking ideas from people of different walks of life that how could they change the destiny of the nation. “ The Sports Board is also looking for those people who could set new mark which would rewrite the Guinness Book of World Records and also seeking volunteers to organize the biggest sports festival of the world with a slogan (come), ‘touch the skies’,” he said.
