Plan prepared to check traffic jam in Murree

Traffic rules must be observed by the tourists for the smooth flow of traffic for which traffic police are implementing a special summer traffic plan, particularly devised for Murree.
Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Rawalpindi Syed Ishtiaq Hussain Shah said this during his visit to Murree, the most attractive resort for the tourists. He inspected all the arrangements made to facilitate the tourists. On this occasion, he issued special directives to the traffic wardens to avoid traffic jam on roads of Murree. He said the CTP had devised a comprehensive plan for Murree for the summer season according to which entry of heavy vehicles into the city had been banned. He said an emergency help line had also been introduced for facilitating the tourists. The citizens, having complaints, can contact police round the clock. He said that enhanced number of traffic wardens under the supervision of inspectors had been deployed at all important points of the city.
The CTO said that several points had been reserved for car parking. Different main roads would be closed for two way traffic, he said adding the tourists should cooperate with traffic police so that traffic mess particularly during summer season could be avoided.
Old licences to be cancelled after 30th: City Traffic Officer (CTO) Rawalpindi Syed Ishtiaq Hussain Shah has urged the citizens to get computerized driving licenses as the old licences particularly that are in book shape would be canceled after June 30.
The CTO said that on the instructions of government of Punjab, next year, after June 30, all the driving licenses particularly the copies which are not computerized would be cancelled.
WASA seeks people’s help to stop water wastage: Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) Managing Director Raja Shaukat Mehmood Wednesday sought cooperation of citizens to prevent water wastage in different localities of the city.
He advised the public to take precautionary measures like avoiding car and motorcycle wash at homes besides excessive use of water in floor-cleansing so that smooth water supply in residential areas could be ensured.
Talking to APP here, he said, “Due to the decrease in water level at Khanpur Dam, the water supply has decreased.” He said WASA is trying to supply water through tankers and “we appeal to residents not to waste water so that it should be distributed with full impartiality.”
