The appointment of Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi as deputy prime minister of Pakistan was challenged in the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Thursday.
The petitioner, Advocate Tariq Aziz, filed a writ in the LHC. Aziz was of the view that appointment of Elahi as a deputy prime minister of the country was a step to reward a coalition ally and it had not provision in the constitution.
He said this special appointment was a clear violation of the article 91 of the constitution.
Moreover, he pleaded that “this appointment was ill-intended and should be declared void.”
