Ex-commissioner’s son surrenders

Shan Muhammad Khan Khusro, son of Lahore’s former commissioner, Khusro Pervez Khan, has on Tuesday handed himself over into the custody of police in Model Town. He is accused of murdering a 22-year-old boy, Hamza Elahi, who was son of a prominent businessman in the city.
The A-Level student, Shan Khusro, who did not present himself before the police for interrogation, mainly because his influential father did not allow police officials to arrest him, became an absconder after he was accused in the murder case.
CM also took notice of the incident and directed the concerned officials to arrest the accused immediately.
Hamza, an O-Level student, was found shot in the head some three weeks ago along a road in DHA. The police took his body into custody and contacted his family through his cell phone found on his body. His father, Sheikh Faza Elahi, President of Anjuman-e-Tajiran Shah Alam Market filed an FIR against Shan Khusro, who he said was with his son in his car when they went out from Hamza’s residence in DHA. Shan’s father, who is now an additional federal secretary, refused to hand over his son to police. Later on, Shan’s bail plea was rejected by the presiding Additional District and Sessions Judge Nisar Ahmed who refused to accept bail plea filed by the defendant’s counsel, Burhan Moazzam Malik. In his defence, Malik pleaded last week that he could not present the accused as his life was in danger. There were more than hundred people gathered outside the court in support of the deceased Hamza. Malik also said that the CCTV footage from an earlier hearing clearly showed some people carrying arms who, he said, had links with Fazal Elahi. The judge said that without the presence of the accused, he could neither accept the bail plea nor allow to withdraw it, another demand of the defendant’s lawyer. The judge has set June 28 as the next date of hearing on which he has also summoned the surety of the petitioner, Naziran Bibi.
