Representatives from the private sector participated in an advocacy event organised by the Sindh Education Foundation (SEF) to highlight its pioneering adopt-a-school programme recently.
The program has mobilized private sector support for public school reform and undertaken more than 250 successful adoptions benefiting thousands of children belonging to marginalized areas of Sindh.
Prof Anita Ghulam Ali, Managing Director, SEF and Aziz Kabani, Director, SEF introduced the school adoption process and during the session highlighted areas of quality enrichment for enhancing students’ learning outcomes. Contributions were invited through the donation of time, expertise and resources for improving school environment and implementing child-centered pedagogy in government schools.
The potential adopters and the SEF management had a candid interactive discussion where all questions regarding the dynamics and the process of school adoptions were explored and answered.
The attendees inquired about the level of commitment involved in such an endeavor and the SEF management responded that nurturing the future of these children does require dedication but the rewards of changing lives on such a scale has few substitutes. SEF urged the private sector to do its part in helping the marginalized but to undertake the venture with responsibility and conscientiousness.
Diverse segments of society including concerned citizens, social agencies, educationists and private sector organizations were represented at the forum.
