Elements that have always conspired against Karachi by provoking Muhajir-Pashtun riots should see that both communities stand united today, said Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Chief Altaf Hussain on Sunday.
Altaf said this during his telephonic address to the MQM’s ‘Paigham-e-Mohabbat’ rally in Karachi here at Jinnah Ground, Azizabad. The gathering’s aim was to promote love and harmony among different communities living in the provincial capital.
The MQM chief demanded of the Sindh government to resolve the problems of the Pakhtuns and Hazara people’s populated areas of the metropolis. MQM is not only the party of downtrodden Punjabis, Sindhis, Balochis, Gilgit-Balistanis and Kashmiris but also of the Pushto and Hindko speaking people, he added. “Pushto and Hindko speaking people are also our brothers,” he said.
He said MQM would foil conspiracies aimed at creating hatred among people and pitting them against one another. Altaf Hussain held feudals and landlords responsible for hatching conspiracies on the basis of divide and rule formula. The MQM chief called upon the Urdu speaking people to provide protection to the push carts, roadside stalls, tea cabins and hotels belonging to the Pakhtuns. “Promise me that you will play your role towards putting an end to the fight in Karachi,” he asked the Urdu speaking people.
Altaf Hussain observed that the people from cities and other areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa would not have come to Karachi after leaving their loved ones behind, had they found opportunities of earning better livelihood there. Calling Pakhtun people his brothers, he chanted ‘Pathan Mohajir Bhai Bhai’ ‘Pathan Mohajir Bhai Bhai’. The MQM chief added that today’s rally was an initiator to finish conspiracies among both the communities.
Hussain asked Pashto and Urdu speakers to take oath that they would not confront with each other and would foil every conspiracy to create confrontation between them. The MQM chief also said that all institutions should work within their parameters to strengthen democracy. Meanwhile, ANP Sindh President Senator Shahi Syed also addressed a separate public meeting at KPT ground in Karachi. He said his party believes in peace and non-violence as used to be preached by their leader late Bacha Khan. He said the ANP will support every effort for peace in Karachi as it was essential for economic development.
Ownership rights given to villagers

As part of the Sindh government’s village regularization initiative, the residents of 3 villages including Masroor Ahmed Jatoi, Hurr Camp and Shah Latif were given property ownership rights at a ceremony here on Saturday evening. Provincial Ministers Nadeem Ahmed Bhutto and Zahid Bhurgari handed over the ownership documents to the people on the occasion. While addressing the ceremony Bhutto announced that all the villages in the district would be regularized within 2 months. “The Pakistan Peoples Party soon after assuming the government had declared that it would regularize all the villages in Sindh. And, today we are honouring the commitment with the people,” the minister said. Bhutto said the PPP was a party of the poor people, labours and peasants adding that it was owing to that relation between the party and the people that the vested interests were always busy conspiring against the PPP.

  1. I give full credit to this megalomaniac leader of an ethnic party who have gall to sprinkle salt over the wounds of other nationalities who have suffered immensely at the hands of the thugs of mohajir qaumi movement. Imagine the very pashtuns were target of his assassins and now he is throwing dust in the eyes of the public to announce that his men will now protect pashtuns. Such an incredible hypocrite this man is.

  2. The rules are easily bent in Pakistan. While an individual with dual nationality can not hold membership of the Parliament or holding a public office but a person who has renounced Pakistani passport and proudly displays red passport and yet he, while sitting from London, could unleash his 'peaceful' supporters on poor citizen of Karachi. Such is his propaganda machine and backing of so called independent media he continues to keep Karachi under his thumb as it it was his fiefdom.

So, the answer to your question is that I may be wrong but the rule applies to everyone but here we are dealing with different kettle of fish and the rules are easily bent. After all, it the CJP who has to take notice of that but for some unknown reason he is unable to take action. This is called fear from fascists.
