Unhygienic food selling in Cantt area

In connivance with the food department, sale of unhygienic food is on the rise in Cantonment Board area, posing health hazard to the citizens. Despite having extra authority of Licenses and Professional Tax, food Inspectors and Cantt Board health department failed to ensure check and balance system in the area.
Traders and shopkeepers involved in this business are free to sale their sub standard eatable on high rates without displaying the rate list as the food department is getting bribe from them and allow them to flourish their illegal business under the umbrella of the department. Following the rise of this business, residents of the area are forced to visit hospitals as they are facing several abdominal diseases. Hotels and Restaurant owners in several areas of the Cantt Board, including Railway Station, Koyla Center, Chotta Bazaar and Kashmir Road, are involved in it.
Residents demand drive against stray dogs in F-10/2: The residents of the posh sector of the capital F-10/2 have expressed grave concern over the increasing number of stray dogs which are sparking harassment amongst the people.
According to information, herds of stray dogs are rooming freely in the area while the authorities concerned are yet to launch stray dogs’ hunting drive to save the inhabitants.
The herds of dogs are seen on the prowl everywhere in the sector, including outside schools, colleges, hotels, and adjoining areas. During night and early mornings, stray dogs appear on roads, chase motorcyclists and vehicles, causing road accidents. “At least three persons were bitten by the dogs few months back,” said a resident. The residents said that there has been exceptional increase in the number of dogs in the area, which has become a matter of huge concern for the residents, especially the parents of children. “The cases of dog bites and attacks on road users have also seen an increase and parents are apprehensive about the safety of their school going children, as they were more vulnerable to the dog attacks.
The residents said that the movement of people especially elders and women have become difficult during evening hours in the presence of large number of dogs.
