The legal fraternity is set to observe a country-wide strike and Black Day on Wednesday against the ‘conspiracies’ aimed at destabilising the judiciary. The decision was taken at the All Pakistan Lawyers Convention held on Saturday during which the lawyers paid tribute to the superior judiciary and vowed to foil all the ‘conspiracies’ being hatched against the institution.
Through a unanimously adopted resolution in the moot, the law practitioners announced to observe a country-wide strike and Black Day in lower courts.
The convention held at the Al Hamra, was chaired by former SCBA president Hamid Khan and attended by the bar association office bearers.
He said Raja Parvez Ashraf is worker of President Asif Zardari and that the lawyers’ fraternity does not recognise him as the prime minister. He alleged that the PPP and its allies were conspiring against the Supreme Court, adding that the lawyers will not allow any conspiracy against the courts to succeed.
Through various resolutions, the convention demanded an end to the price hike and the energy crisis.
