Engineering Robotics Contest held at NUST

The National Engineering Robotics Contest 2012 was organized by NUST, STEM Career Program-HEC and Pakistan Science Foundation (PSF) at the College of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering (EME) here on Saturday.
Addressing the event as chief guest, Dr Muhammad Akram Sheikh, while.complimenting the efforts taken up so vigorously by NUST College of E&ME, said the National Engineering Robotics Contest was a platform which provided the engineering students of the country an opportunity to get the complete engineering experience. “Seeing such a huge turnout and the students working with such dedication in one of the most sophisticated fields of engineering, I can see the potential of our future engineers,” he added. “Since every machine these days is a blend of several technologies, Mechatronics Engineering as a new discipline has found widespread acceptance in the world, including a large number of developing countries,” he said. Dr Younus Javed, dean of academics, in his opening address, welcomed all the teams and honorable guests. He stressed that co-and extra-curricular activities play a very important role in building a sound personality and a successful human being. He urged the participants that all competitions of human activities are focused on improvements because winning/losing is a byproduct. “This is how we will grow as a nation,” he said. Brig Dr. Javaid Iqbal, the Head of Mechatronics Department and chief organiser of the contest, said that more than 170 teams from different engineering universities, colleges and institutes from all over the country were registered for the qualifying round. Major General Obaid bin Zakria, HI(M), Commandant College of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering, in his address welcomed everyone to the National Engineering Robotics Contest 2012.
