The Board of Intermediate Education Karachi (BIEK) has announced its budget for the fiscal 2012-13 showing a record saving. The estimates show the receipts to the tune of Rs 1.1 billion whereas the expenditure is about Rs 550.4 million and the saving to the tune of Rs 560.3 million. BIEK Chairman Prof Anwar Ahmed Zai said unnecessary expenditures had been curtailed and the system of recovery had been made transparent. He said that there was a provision of increase of 20 percent in the salaries and allowances of the employees. But there had been no increase in the examinations’ fees, Prof. Anwar Zai said adding that the BIEK’s budget for fiscal 2012-13 had been termed as exemplary.
