PML-Q leader and Senior Minister Chaudhry Pervez Elahi on Saturday said the party would ensure full support and cooperation to Prime Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf to resolve the energy crisis at the earliest.
Talking to reporters after meeting Pervaiz Ashraf who came to Elahi’s residence to thank the PML-Q for its support in the election, Elahi said the prime minister had made the promise that finding a solution to the energy crisis would be his top priority. “The prime minister has said that he had convened his first-ever meeting at the Prime Minister’s House on his first day in office to discuss the energy crisis. That indicates his seriousness towards the issue,” he said.
Elahi said the prime minister also told the PML-Q leadership that “Shujaat Formula” would also be discussed in the meeting on energy crisis being held to find solution to the crisis. To a question, Elahi said the PML-Q would prepare references against those members of the National Assembly belonging to the PML-Q who did not use their right of vote in the election of prime minister on Friday. He said the members, who could not reach Islamabad, conveyed to the leadership of PML-Q while remaining members remained absent from the polling process and references were being prepared against them. Criticizing the Punjab government, Elahi said it had been made clear that the Punjab chief minister was leading the processions over the issue of energy crisis and in these protest rallies, public property, banks, government offices and other important buildings had been damaged.
