JI appeals to stop Muslim massacre in Burma

Ameer Jamaat e Islami (JI) Pakistan Syed Munawar Hasan on Thursday urged the world community to exert its influence to stop massacre of Muslims in Arakan (Burma). He also appealed to the OIC and the UN to take effective measures to protect the Arakan Muslims. In a statement, he said that infinite numbers of people in Arakan and Myanmar were being punished only because they adhere to the Muslim faith. Atrocities were perpetrated on them for the last many years but the whole world was silent and the media too had shut its eyes. The JI Ameer wondered if the human rights champions were aware of the Muslims’ genocide in Arakan. He said the UN had termed the Arakani Muslims the most oppressed people but it had failed to take any practical steps to remedy the situation. Munawar lamented the fact that the authorities concerned would not even let the suffering Muslims migrate into Bangladesh. “The huts and habitations of the Muslims were being set on fire,” he added.
