Rawal Town Municipal administration (RTMA), taking stern action against its tenants, sealed 20 shops of the rent defaulters in Bunni market while after on spot payment of the outstanding amount of rent, 10 shopkeepers were allowed to run their business.
According to details, TMA on the special instructions of Rawal Town administrator Saif Anwar Jappa has accelerated the recovery campaign.
Earlier, final notices were issued to all the rent defaulters that the outstanding dues must be cleared within ten days otherwise, stern action would be taken.
TMA recently launched a special campaign to recover outstanding dues from its tenants, running their business in the shops of the tehsil municipal administration (TMA).
Administrator Rawal Town Saif Anwar Jappa had issued special directives for the recovery of outstanding dues from the tenants and asked the Taxation Officer Shehzad Gohar that if the due payments are not cleared by the shopkeepers within stipulated time frame then their shops should be sealed and no relaxation should be given to anyone.
So far under the campaign TMA has collected over Rs 42.5 million, said a statement issued here. Now, action in accordance with the law is being taken against the defaulters to collect Rs 4.7 million of the rent.
Special raids for the recovery of the outstanding dues are being conducted on regular basis and on Thursday, action in this regard will be taken in Sherpao Market.
1 child beggars rescued by CPWB: Child Protection and Welfare Bureau (CPWB) Rawalpindi has rescued 11 children found begging on city roads during last week.
According to District Officer CPWB, rescue teams of the bureau along with police visited several city areas including Faizabad, Peerwadhai, Murree road, Commercial Market, Sadder bazaar, Scheme Three and other areas.
He said the children taken into custody from different city areas were later presented in Child Protection Court for legal custody.
Family tracing unit of the bureau makes efforts to find out parents of such children and on provision of an affidavit that the children would not be made beggars, handed over to them.
He appealed the public to give information about such children on child protection helpline 1121.
He further said six such children were handed over to their parents during the period.
Youth Parliament to discuss youth finance policy: Youth Minister for Finance, Planning Affairs and Economics, Ahmed Numair Farooq (YP-21PUNJAB01) moved the motion to discuss the possible recommendations for the Youth Finance Policy 2012. Some of the members from opposition benches asked the speaker to forward the matter to the relevant committee.
However, the government urged to delay the fate of the motion till the presentation of the Youth Finance Policy. A number of recommendations were given by the members for the removal of the budget deficit, increase in tax revenues, eradication of tax evasion, debt servicing, eradication of economic disparity and economic initiatives to be taken for solving energy crisis.
Osama Mehmood (YP42-PUNJAB22), Muhammad Attique (YP11-ICT01), Aamir Khan Khichi (YP30-PUNJAB10 and Najeeb Abid Baloch (YP05-BALOCHISTAN03) moved a motion asking the government to devise mechanism for improvements in order to achieve a sustainable economic growth.
Some of the members of Blue Party suggested that incentives should be given to the regular tax payers so that more and more people are motivated to pay taxes. According to one of the members direct taxation should be increased with less reliance on GST and VAT in revenue generation. Members of the Green Party were of the opinion that Land Record should be taxed effectively for improving revenue generation.
Dr. Nadeem ul Haque, Deputy Chairman, Planning Commission of Pakistan discussed the economic challenges the nation is passing through at the moment. After giving the detailed comparative theory of the country’s financial position he urged the youth to get involved in the healthy debates.
