Pakistan Academy of Letters (PAL) organised a literary reference to condole the death of eminent scholar and poet, the late Allama Bashir Hussain Nazim.
The literary reference was presided over by renowned poet Iftikhar Arif. Paying tribute to Bashir Hussain Nazim, Iftikhar Arif said that he really stood at the top of those writers and scholars who could be rated as an authority in Urdu poetry, Arabic and Persian Iftikhar Arif said that besides being a totally unprejudiced person, Nazim was owned and liked by all circles of literatures and beliefs. Abdul Hameed, chairman, Pakistan Academy of Letters, said that Bashir Hussain Nazim would be long remembered for the services he rendered in the field of Naat Nigari.
Dr Ghazanfar Mehdi said he will live in our hearts as a true lover of the Holy Prophet and as a devoted patriot. Brig Dr Mukarram Bashir, the elder son of the deceased poet, gave an account of the sweet memories of his father as a very friendly human being. A large number of speakers and admirers of the late poet included Allama Sibtain Shahjahani, Arsh Hashmi, Wafa Chishti, Anjum Khaleeq, Asif Akbar and Hameed Shahid while Asghar Abid conducted the programme. Fateha was offered for the peace of the departed soul at the end of function.
