Punjab govt will not leave its people alone: Shahbaz

Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said the provision of the best facilities and services to the people is the foremost responsibility of the Punjab government, while applauding the role played by the business community for the progress and prosperity of the country.
He was presiding over a meeting held at the Minar-e-Pakistan Camp Office on Wednesday to review the arrangements made to tackle the monsoon rains, drains de-silting campaign and the provision of potable water to the citizens.
Later, he met a representative delegation of jewelers from Ferozepur Road. Punjab Anjuman-e-Tajran President Mehboob Ali Sirki led the delegation.
The CM said the government servants must serve the citizens with dedication and commitment. He directed that the provision of potable water to the citizens must be ensured and no complaint should come from any house, locality or area about the shortage of water. He also directed that in view of the monsoon season falling in the sacred month of Ramzan, foolproof arrangements must be made for the rainy season. He directed that an effective plan for the monsoon and provision of drinkable water should
be submitted to him within the next three days.
He also directed the elected representatives to conduct regular visits to their constituencies to personally monitor the arrangements made in this regard.
Provincial Ministers Chaudhry Abdul Ghafoor, Mian Mujtaba-Shuja-ur-Rehman, national and provincial assembly members from Lahore, the heads of development authorities, the Lahore commissioner, District Coordination Officer and other senior officers attended the meeting.
Meanwhile, talking to the delegation of jewelers, the chief minister said the business community had always played a significant role in furthering the progress of the country and that whenever the country faced any catastrophe; the traders have always helped their grief-stricken brethren generously.
He stated that solving the problems being faced by businessmen and the protection of their commercial activities is a priority for the government.
The CM directed the Punjab IG to solve the issues being faced by the jewelers on priority basis, besides ensuring protection to their businesses.
Shahbaz Sharif announced that he will meet traders from Lahore, including the jewelers and money exchangers for consultation regarding the provision of trained security guards in markets, the installation of CCTV cameras and other security arrangements.
Haji Fazal Elahi, a trader, informed the chief minister about the murder of his only son, upon which the CM offered sincere condolences and assured that complete justice will be provided in this case and the culprit will be brought before the court of law.
Fateha for the departed soul was also offered during the meeting.
