Lahore High Court Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial on Wednesday disposed of the petition challenging the appointment of Prof Asad Aslam Khan on various administrative posts at the King Edward Medical University (KEMU) and Mayo Hospital.
However, the court barred Prof Khan from claiming to be the acting KEMU vice-chancellor.
The petition was filed by the petitioner’s counsel Noshab A Khan.
Earlier, the KEMU’s counsel submitted before the court that Prof Asad Aslam had not been appointed as the acting VC or the VC but was asked to perform the duties of the VC until the office was vacant. The court after hearing the arguments disposed of the petition.
The petitioner had submitted that Prof Khan was currently serving as the acting KEMU vice chancellor, the pro vice-chancellor besides holding other offices. He said all posts were extremely important and the fact that a single person held all of them meant that the jobs were not getting the dedicated attention they deserved and the quality of service delivery at these institutions was suffering.
