KMC administrator returns from Istanbul

KMC Administrator Muhammad Hussain Syed on Wednesday returned Karachi after four day visit to Istanbul, Turkey. Prominent industrialist Sardar Yasin Malik, Siddique Shaikh of Karachi Chambers of Commerce and Industry and other members of KCCI accompanied him during this visit, said a statement issued by the KMC here on Wednesday. After arriving in Karachi Administrator Muhammad Hussain Syed said that MoU had been signed with the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality under which experts from Istanbul would provide cooperation to KMC in the fields of vocational training and technical expertise.
He said that his visit to Istanbul had been very successful and it paved the way for mutual cooperation in various sectors including the transportation system, solid waste management and vocational & technical training. The Administrator Karachi said that a group of master trainers would be sent to Istanbul soon for vocational and technical training.
These master trainers would then impart training to the instructors of 70 vocational training centers in Karachi in the fields of computer hardware, manufacturing and maintenance of generators, mobile phones, laptops, I pads and other electronic devices.
He said that this would provide huge employment opportunities to youth. Muhammad Hussain Syed said that Deputy Mayor of Istanbul agreed upon extending mutual cooperation and exchange of delegations between the two cities whereas the meeting with the Chief Executive of Istanbul Transportation Company also proved productive as they discussed in detail the ways to improve the transportation system in Karachi with the restoration of circular railway and the induction of metro railway system. He said in order to run various transportation projects a delegation from Istanbul Transportation Company would visit Karachi and conduct the study for bringing further improvement in the city’s public transport system. The Administrator Karachi said all the garbage transfer stations in Istanbul have very low establishment and operational cost. This would be an appropriate solid waste system for Karachi. He said delegates from 22 countries including Pakistan, Italy and Germany who attended the International Symposium on Lifelong Learning Culture and Vocational Educational Training in Istanbul pledged to promote the vocational training in their countries. Handicrafts from Pakistan were liked in the whole world but unfortunately they did not get access to lot of countries.
He said in this symposium it was decided that Pakistani handicrafts would be exported to many countries including Turkey. Earlier Muhammad Hussain Syed and his delegation was seen off by high government officials including the Senior Director of foreign office, the Director Education, Senior Officers of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality and the Deputy Chairman of Istanbul Chambers of Commerce & Industry. They also expressed good wishes for Pakistan.
