Availability of medicines to be ensured: minister

Sindh Health Minister Dr Saghir Ahmed has stressed that availability of medicines of gastroenteritis and diarrhea be ensured in the hospitals in the province.
He was chairing a meeting of District Health Officers, medical superintendents and taluka/Town health Officers in his office here on Wednesday. The Minister was of the view that with the advent of summer the cases of gastroenteritis and diarrhea increase especially in the rural areas of the province. He stressed that awareness be fostered among the masses against these diseases and that they be asked to avoid using sub-standard and stale food items and drink water after boiling. Dr. Sagheer Ahmed urged the District Health Officers to play their role in fostering awareness in this regard among the masses. He said that effective steps be taken to keep the children immune against such diseases. The Minister also directed that presence of doctors and paramedics be ensured in the hospitals so as to enhance their performance and warned that no dereliction would be tolerated in this regard. Special Secretary Public Health, Dr Suresh Kumar, briefed the minister about the performance of the hospitals.
NBP to hold blood donation drive on BB’s anniversary: National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) will organise a national blood donation campaign in collaboration with People’s Doctor Forum on June 21 and 22, on the occasion of birth anniversary of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto at its head office. According to National Bank of Pakistan announcement here Wednesday, bank employees will donate blood on this occasion.
National conference on Ecology in October: A national conference on Ecology and Dendrochronology would be organised here in October this year.
This was announced by a spokesperson of the Federal Urdu University of Arts, Science and Technology (FUUAST) here on Wednesday. Scientists, experts and students from various cities would present their research papers during the week-long moot.
They would also apprise of their work regarding biodiversity, pollution, forests and climate change. The participants would also exchange their views and benefit from one anothers’ experiences, the organisers further stated. During the workshop, field trips would also be arranged for the participants, they added. The conference would help foster the research activities, it was further pointed out.
CM condoles minister’s death: Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah has expressed sorrow and grief over the demise of former provincial minister Syed Umeed Ali Shah. The deceased was elder brother of Provincial Minister, Syed Ali Nawaz Shah Rizvi. The Chief Minister sympathised with Syed Ali Nawaz Shah Rizvi and other members of the bereaved family. He also recounted the services of late Umeed Ali Shah for the betterment of the people especially for those of District Tano Allahyar. Qaim Ali Shah also prayed to Almighty Allah to rest the departed soul in eternal peace and grant courage and fortitude to the bereaved family to bear this irreparable loss. Chief Minister Sindh’s Special Assistants Rashid Rabbani and Waqar Mehdi have also condoled the demise of Syed Umeed Ali Shah.
