6 more fall victim to target killings

At least six persons, including a worker of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and a cleric, were killed here on Tuesday, police said.
According to the details, Police recovered a body stuffed in a gunny bag in Korangi’s Chamra Chowrangi. The man was abducted and then murdered.
Moreover, another body was found in Federal B Area’s Jauharabad neighbourhood. The victim’s hands and feet had been tied.
In another incident, bodies of three men were recovered from a stationary car on Mirza Adam Khan Road in the city’s Lyari Town. The three victims, who were residents of Karachi’s North Karachi area, had been tortured and then shot dead.
One of the victims from the shooting incident in Lyari was an active worker of the MQM. Furthermore, unknown gunmen had shot dead a cleric in the city’s Nazimabad area. Police registered cases of the incidents and started investigations.
Minister for action against smoke-emitting, noisy vehicles: The Sindh Minister for Environment, Shaikh Muhammad Afzal, has directed that action be initiated against the owners of smoke-emitting and noisy vehicles. He was presiding over a meeting in the office here on Tuesday in which environmental issues were discussed.
The Minister also directed that action should also be taken against those involved in sale of `substandard mineral water’ and those selling vegetables grown in polluted and contaminated water. He also called for protection of mangroves and preventing their cutting. Shaikh Afzal further instructed that action be also taken against those who litter waste.
He also stressed that steps be taken to cleanse the river Indus, Keenjhar lake and the beaches from pollution. The meeting was attended among others by the senior officers of the Department of Environment.
