PML-N Lahore President and Member National Assembly Muhammad Pervez Malik Thursday said that the federal government was responsible for the anarchy and unrest which led the masses to stage such protests against load shedding.
In a statement issued by PML-N media office, Malik said that not only inability but corruption of the present regime was the major reason of frightful energy crisis. He said that Pakistan, particularly the Punjab was facing the worst energy outages. He said that Punjab was the most important province owing to its vast capabilities of boosting the economy, industrialization and revenue generation. He alleged that the federal government was targeting the Punjab.
Talking about the miserable condition of the industrial sector of Punjab, Pervez Malik stated it was being crumpled and not only millions of the industrial workers but almost 100 million people of Punjab were forced to face poverty, starvation, unemployment and unrest due to the historical electricity shortage. Instead of taking corrective measures, PPP government was dredging salt on the injuries of the nation. Pervez Malik said that protest and hard reaction of the people against the 16 to 18 hours of load shedding in Punjab was quite natural. “What the people will do when they have almost no electricity in the warm and breathless weather despite paying huge electricity bills?” he questioned.
He said that the recent rally of PML-N against load shedding was for expressing solidarity with the energy deprived people and the party would continue with its efforts until the discriminatory attitude of the PPP-led government and the justified electricity supply to the Punjab was restored.
The PML-N leader further alleged that the federal government was responsible for the murder of those who lost their lives during the protests but instead of showing sympathy, federal ministers and advisors were threatening the masses.

  1. The Punjab government is backing protests against the government under the cover of the energy crisis, which works not only against democracy but also against the country. The Punjab police have become a silent spectator and the provincial rulers and administration are not only a part of the protest but they are responsible for instigating people. The party leader, Mian Nawaz Sharif has reinforced the policy of his brother by publicly endorsing it, which means that prominent leaders will take to the streets in the coming days and take part in more vandalism in their own constituencies. The government in Punjab did not produce even a single unit of electricity; rather, they have squeezed the IPPs through false allegations of corruption, and therefore the (IPPs) had to stop expansion and reduce capacity of electricity generation.
