Around 134,118 youth have been provided vocational and technical training so far under programmes launched to prepare them work in emerging sectors.
These youth have been trained under President’s `Funni Maharat Programme’ and Prime Minister’s `Hunermand Pakistan Programme’.
An official at National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC) on Monday said, “Soon a scheme would be introduced to provide an interest free loan of Rs 50,000 to all successful trainees.
The focus was being given on enhancing productivity and skill development industries, particularly in SME sector and these programmes are definitely helping to meet the modern challenges, he added.
He said the Commission was promoting linkages among various stakeholders at national as well as international level and established 117 new vocational training centers in 72 tehsils.
Listing different measures adopted this year, the official told the Commission has developed 60 new curricula of different vocational trades and technologies, which are being taught in public and private sector institutes across the country.
The Commission has formulated a mechanism and obtained consensus of stakeholders in provinces which is the first ever attempt in Pakistan to develop such a system involving the TVET sector.
