The Coordination Committee of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) in its reaction to Yousaf Raza Gilani’s disqualification as prime minister by the Supreme Court, said MQM accepts the apex court’s judgment.
MQM Coordination Committee, London and Karachi held their emergency meetings following the landmark verdict of the Supreme Court in National Speaker’s ruling case, stripping Gilani of both the membership of parliament and premiership.
It said the SC verdict should be honoured in the greater interest of the country and democracy. Any clash between the state institutions and hostility must be avoided, it added.
“The ongoing democratic process in the country should continue at all cost,” the Coordination Committee asserted.
Earlier, the Supreme Court disqualified Yousaf Raza Gilani as member of the parliament and prime minister with effect from April 26, 2012 in its short order issued today in NA Speaker’s ruling case.
As a consequence to the SC verdict, the Federal Cabinet also stood dissolved.
