Former chief minister Punjab Dost Mohammed Khosa lauded the computerisation of land records and said after its completion the people will get rid of obsolete and exploitative system for the transfer of land and getting registered deeds.
Talking to reporters at the Punjab assembly on Monday, he said the system would root out corruption at lower level in Revenue Department and people would get relief from centuries old cruel practices.
Land owners, he said, will not face any complication about their properties through computer service centers set up under land record management information system.
Answering a question, he said, work on this project had been started in 24 districts while the remaining work would be carried out shortly. Initially, he said, 11 service centers will work in various cities whereas 30 more service centers will be opened soon.
Khosa, who is also a former Punjab revenue minister said record relating to the land would be available online through land record management information system and the ownership deed could be obtained within 30 minutes whereas transfer of land will be made within 50 minutes under this system.
