President of the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) Yasin Azad on Sunday warned the PPP government against repeating the mistakes committed by former dictator Pervez Mushrraf against judiciary.
Talking to media he said that lawyers were not standing with any individual but they were rallying behind the Supreme Court and judiciary.
“It is not relevant whose son was involved in corruption but he should be punished accordingly,” he said, adding that for the strengthening of institutions, there should be rule of law in the country.
Azad said the lawyers’ community had strived against dictatorship of Musharraf and secured independence of judiciary with much sacrifices and now nobody could be allowed to hatch conspiracies against the judiciary.
He announced that the legal community was united for the defence of judiciary.
To a question, he replied that there should be accountability of everyone whether he was the son of a judge or of a government functionary.
