At least eight people, three political workers among them, were killed and many injured on Monday as firing incidents continued plaguing the city.
The fresh wave of targeted killings emerged after Awami National Party (ANP) leader Liaquat Bangash, was murdered.
His body was found in Rabia City near Karachi’s Gulistan-e-Jauhar area on Sunday, resulting in severe tension and closure of markets in the locality.
On Monday, Pahelwan Goath area in Gulistan-e-Jauhar turned battle field when two armed groups traded fires for many hours.
A 40-year-old women, Gulshan Bibi and 22-year-old man, Imdad Hussain, were killed. Heavy police and Rangers contingent were called in the area.
Meanwhile, Sher Ali, 78, a former Union Council Nazim, was gunned down outside his home in Site Frontier Colony. He died in the hospital during treatment.
Three political workers, Zubair, Afsar and Mukhtar were targeted in Sherpao Colony of Landhi and Surjani Town Sector 10.
Police said two bodies of youngsters were found from sector 5-M and 5-D, Bilal Colony, in North Karachi, adding that they might have been kidnapped before the murder. NNI
