The traders in all districts of Punjab, including provincial capital, held protest rallies against crippling electricity loadshedding, besides establishing symbolic hunger strike camps to condemn power failure in sizzling heat.
As per the decision of the All Pakistan Anjuman-e-Tajran, thousands of traders attended protest demonstrations to condemn the unprecedented power breakdowns.
According to a press release issued here on Saturday, the protesters wowed to besiege the Parliament House in Islamabad if the issue of leoadshedding is not resolved immediately.
In Lahore, a protest demonstration was held by the APAT Lahore chapter against crippling power failures at Shah Alami chowk, where hundreds of protesters chanted slogans against federal government.
Addressing the protest meeting, All Pakistan Anjuman-e-Tajiran general secretary Naeem Mir announced that traders will observe a shutterdown completely on June 23 all over the Punjab against severe and discriminate electricity loadhsedding in the province. He said that different committees have been formed in this regard to coordinate and contact with other groups of traders and political parties to join the protest movement of business community against power breakdowns.
He said that APAT has called an emergency meeting in Faisalabad to decide further course of action regarding shutterdown strike all across the province on June 23.
