Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) President Yasin Azad has demanded an across-the-board accountability of politicians, media men, generals, bureaucrats and lawyers to expose those who took benefits from real estate tycoon Malik Riaz. Addressing a press conference on Saturday, the SCBA president demanded an end to allegations against the judiciary and said it was not appropriate to drag the judiciary into every matter. He said the investigation team should have people who were respected by all sections of the society and people had faith in them. Azad hoped everyone would have a fair opportunity to a transparent trial in the investigations.
He demanded the inquiry report be brought to fore and the one responsible for the entire episode be punished. Azad added that Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry proved that everyone was equal before him by taking action against his son. “An institution cannot be penalized for a mistake of an individual,” the SCBA president.
