Qamar hopes for demilitarisation of Siachen

Defence Minister Syed Naveed Qamar has said that the process of dialogue was continuing with India for demilitarization of Siachen Glacier.
Talking to media persons here, the Defence Minister said the Indian Defence secretary visited Islamabad recently and hoped that the two countries would agree to an acceptable solution. He said all the important decisions including restoration of NATO supply route would be taken in national interests. He said negotiations were going on with the US for this purpose. About the affairs of the PIA, Syed Naveed Qamar said a new Chairman has been appointed and hoped that the airline would soon show a turn around. He said a legal committee has been formed on the instructions of the Supreme Court to investigate the Arsalan Iftikhar –Malik Riaz case. About the establishment of Zulfikarabad city, the Defence Minister said it is in the interest of Sindhis because with increase in population, new cities are essential. He said the new city would have all the facilities including airport, education, health and recreation. He said the protests by the Sindhi nationalists over the new city was uncalled for. Asked about local government elections, Naveed Qamar said the PPP government would organize these elections according to the law.

  1. Shah jee do you read news paper. India has flatly said that they will not demitarise Siachen glacier. Keep dreaming that india will resolve issuez with IRP but do not think your countrymen are retard.

    indias only motive is to sell their substandard products to IRP and you will never be able to move them 1inch from thier position. Meanwhile do not forgef to stock your refregirator with poof quality indian product.
