Due to intensity of heat, the power shortfall during peak hours has reached to 6802 MW against demand of 17873 MW.
According to data released by the Ministry of Water and Power, 4512 MW of electricity is being generated through hydel, 1343 MW through Thermal, 5216 MW through IPPs and 700 MW is being given to KESC.
Due to less inflow in the Tarbela and Mangla reservoirs this year compared to previous year hydel generation, KAPCO power plants of (876 MW) are under forced outage due to shortage of fuel, according to ministry spokesperson.
One unit of Hubco power plant 300 mw, AES Lapir 350 mw, Saif power 210 mw, Saphire power 209 mw, Orient power 213 mw and Halmore 207 mw are also under forced outage due to non availability of fuel. Oil stock position at all RFO operable plants is also critically low, the spokesperson said.
