Jamaat-e Islami (JI) Karachi staged a protest demonstration on Friday against the illegal detention of JI workers including Ajmal Waheed, JI District Bin Qasim Town Deputy Chief and his brother Osama Waheed. JI Karachi Chief Muhammad Hussain Mahenti and other leaders addressed the protest demonstration.
In his address to the participants, Jamaat-e Islami Karachi Ameer Muhammad Hussain Mahenti said that the issue of the missing persons had reached a point of extreme despondency while the intelligence agencies had made the country a state where no law governs. The non-return of abducted JI workers was a serious threat to the citizens.
The Supreme Court of Pakistan should take notice of unconstitutional acts of the intelligence agencies and help safe return of the abducted JI workers from the illegal detention of the intelligence agencies.
Jamaat-e Islami Karachi General Secretary Naseem Siddiqui, Deputy Chief Nasarullah Khan Shaji, District Bin Qasim Chief Abdul Jameel and Muhammad Hussain Baloch also addressed the occasion.
Mahenti said that the intelligence agencies had abducted countless citizens without any concrete proof against them because they had so far failed to frame a charge and produce the abducted in any court of law. He said that it was in violation of the constitution of the country to abduct any citizen. The government should control the intelligence agencies or else the Jamaat-e Islami would establish protest camps in nook and cranny against the abduction of citizens.
He said that the Supreme Court should immediately take notice of illegal detention of Waheed brothers.
Police recover woman,
arrest kidnapper : Police recovered a woman who was kidnapped three days ago and arrested a kidnapper in injured condition on Friday.
The woman is a bank officer’s wife.
Mrs Suhail was kidnapped from Defence phase 7 area of the city. The kidnapper demanded Rs1 million as ransom amount.
Police encounter occurred with the kidnappers at Clifton area in which one kidnapper was arrested.
Police also recovered a vehicle from the kidnapper’s custody.
45 MQM activists killed since May 7: Sabzwari: Parliamentary leader of MQM and provincial minister for youth affairs Faisal Sabzwari said on Friday that 45 party activists have been killed from May 7 to June 14. The MQM leaders Faisal Sabzwari and Raza Haroon expressed their concern over the city violence.
They said that everyone knows who the killers are. “But they are having support of the government,” they said. Raza Haroon said that the MQM don’t want to be separated from the government. He said the city’s peace is linked with the country’s peace. Reappointed minister for information Sharjeel Baloch termed the MQM’s reservations as valid. He said that the PPP, MQM and ANP must work together and to maintain peace in the city.
