After junior teachers, the Ministry of Capital Administration and Development on Friday upgraded all teachers of BPS 17 and above in next grade.
Around 1,000 teachers teaching working in various colleges and schools affiliated with Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) have been given one-step promotion in the line of the prime minister’s announcement.
A special committee, headed by Federal Secretary Imtiaz Anayat Elahi, met here at the CAAD to discuss the promotion cases. Besides others, the committee was attended by Joint Secretary CAAD Noor Zaman and Additional Secretary Khalid Hanif.
The promotion was given under the time-scale formula. Under this formula, even after the promotions, the nomenclature of teachers’ posts will not be changed.
Under the time scale formula, seven-year service in BPS-18 or 12 years combined service in BPS-17 and BPS-18 is a prerequisite for promotion to BPS-19.
Similarly, seven-year service in BPS-19 or a total of 19 years of service in BPS-17, 18, and 19 is required for promotion to BPS-20. All promotions were made under these criteria.
Earlier, in the line with the prime minister’s special package, the CAAD upgraded schoolteachers from BPS-9 to BPS-14 and BPS-14 to BPS-16. However, the promotion cases of senior teachers, including lecturers and professors, remained pending for around two years.
Federal Government Colleges Teachers Association General Secretary Tahir Mehmood on behalf of teachers’ community paid special thanks to Federal Minister CAAD Nazar Gondal, Secretary CAAD, Joint Secretary CAAD and others officers concerned for approving teachers’ promotions.
