Bird aviary to be completed in Safari Park soon

Administrator KMC Muhammad Hussain Syed said Pakistan’s biggest bird aviary will be completed in Safari Park in next three months which would contain hundreds of species of nes-birds.
He said this while talking to media representatives on the eve of handing over of imported pair of puma to the administration of Karachi Zoo, said a statement issued here on Thursday.
He said work on Karachi Zoo, Safari Park, Baghe Ibn-e-Qasim, Korangi Fish Aquarium and other recreation projects is going on speedily. He said new animals were imported for Karachi Zoo and Safari Park from different countries so that these amusement parks could achieve acclaim on international level.
The Administrator KMC said new animals were being purchased for Safari Park and Karachi Zoo including elephant, lion, rhino and hippopotamus. Three more animals including a hippopotamus, white tiger and Bengal tiger would arrive in Karachi in the next three months while more such animals will be purchased next month. The Administrator Karachi said that besides purchasing new animals and birds, development works for recreation facilities were also underway. He said that the renovation work of Korangi Zoo and Fish Aquarium will be completed in the current month.
Besides the construction of Elephant Home in Safari Park and construction of a high standard food court was also being done. New park is being developed in Orangi Town and the renovation and restoration of Hill Park, Polo Ground, Aziz Bhatti Park and Gulshan-e-Jinnah was being carried out speedily, he added. Director Zoo Dr. Muhammad Kazim in his briefing said that the pair of puma being brought to Karachi Zoo were the Canadian and American Species and are considered very powerful and dangerous animal. They eat meat and have an age of 20 years, he said.
Senior Director Sports, Culture and Recreation Muhammad Rehan Khan, Director Zoo Dr. Muhammad Kazim, various officials of KMC and others were present on this occasion.
