Arrangements for Mehdi’s burial finalised

All arrangements for burial of legendary singer Shahanshah-e-Ghazal Mehdi Hassan in Shah Muhammad graveyard North Karachi today have been finalised by the District Municipal Corporation (DMC), Central.
Administrator DMC Central, Muhammad Nazir Lakhani along with officials concerned visited Shah Muhammad graveyard and reviewed all the arrangements, said a statement issued on Thursday. Mehdi Hassan, 85 passed away on June 13 after a protracted illness, in Karachi.
Besides lighting and cleaning arrangements in the Shah Muhammad graveyard, the DMC Central has also set up camps on all the roads leading to the graveyard.
Estate avenue-SITE named after Mehdi Hassan: The Estate Avenue in SITE area which connects Nazimabad with Gulbai has been named after legendary singer Mehdi Hassan in recognition of his services in the field of singing.
This was announced by Sindh Minister for Trade and Industries, Rauf Siddiqi while talking to media after meeting with sons of the great singer, Arif Mehdi and Asif Mehdi at their residence here, said a statement issued on Thursday.
Legend Mehdi Hasan passed away on Wednesday in Karachi after a protracted illness. He was about 85. Earlier, the Sindh Minister met with Arif Mehdi and Asif Mehdi and condoled with them on the death of their father, legend Mehdi Hassan, it said.
The statement added the notification about naming the Estate Avenue after Mehdi Hassan has also been issued. Rauf Siddiqi also said that the plaque engraved with name of legend Mehdi Hassan will be displayed at the Estate Avenue after the burial of the great singer Mehdi Hassan.
